Technical Writer  -  Closing Date: 7/24/2008

The IDD Department has an opening for an experienced technical writer.

The technical writer will be expected to interview subject matter experts to establish technical specifications and determine what information needs to be developed for publication. The writer must organize information and complete writing assignments according to set standards. Additionally, the writer will be expected to maintain repositories of new and revised information using a version control system.

Requirements:
- Associate degree or equivalent from a two -year accredited college or technical school with five or more years work -related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience in a related field.
- Bachelor degree with three years work -related experience preferred.
- Basic knowledge of document design and proven ability to effectively present technical information to a non -technical or casual audience.
- Demonstrate technical proficiency in learning and using software and computer hardware.
- Ability to estimate task durations, juggle several projects effectively, and meet deadlines.
- Thorough knowledge of Adobe FrameMaker, Adobe Acrobat Professional, and Adobe RoboHelp.
- Knowledge of HTML and XML is desired.
